Day two of the Ice Wolves mini camp saw the teams compete twice with team Turquoise completing the three game sweep with one more game on Sunday morning.
Takeaway #1: Both teams continue to show out.
Head Coach Darren Banks is extremely happy with what he has seen so far, “We were happy with the second day of camp. Team turquoise came away with 3 wins in a row and showed well in those game. We are looking forward to the final game in the morning that will have a stop time format.”
Takeaway #2: Local players making impressions.
The Ice Wolves have a handful of Albuquerque natives at the tryouts this weekend and they haven’t gone unnoticed by Assistant Coach Alex Gilbert, “There were a lot of surprises, the biggest of which was some of the local players who came in and looked great. We’re definitely excited for the future of hockey in New Mexico.”
Takeaway #3: Gary Bowman makes his impact.
The prospects had the opportunity to speak with Gary Bowman on Saturday who enters into his sixth season with the Ice Wolves organization, he is also the Clinical Director from our partner Athlete Oasis. Alex Gilbert had this to say regarding the meeting, “The players got the chance to meet out strength and conditioning coach Gary, who walked them through the ABC’s of what it takes to be successful athletes and how to properly take care of themselves to have great season.”
